Terrierman Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I'm not going to say what I think is the # 1 killer of bass. Or rather who. evilcatfish, MGP and Daryk Campbell Sr 3
MOPanfisher Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 What's a Ned Rig? My guess on Number 1 killer of bass is the occasional fishermen who catch a fish and throw it in a live well or more likely on a stringer until it dies or if hangong from a dock a turtle or otter eats it. snagged in outlet 3 and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
Mitch f Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 My only thought is that throwing a Ned with a super light weight and slow presentation could cause you to lose contact with the bait and deep hook one. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
LittleRedFisherman Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I’m with quillback on this one. It’s been one of the safest baitS on bass I’ve used for me personally. I can’t even recall one being hooked in the gullett. If your not paying attention and loose contact with your line I’m sure it’s more prone to happen. Daryk Campbell Sr 1 There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

Yep. hang a couple on the stringer and then don’t have enough for a meal or you don’t want to care for them and “let them go”. I’ve seen that more than anything else. Freezer burn probably kills more but I wasn’t there when they threw them out.
Johnsfolly Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Poor fish handling especially in warm water or below freezing air temp is in my opinion the number one killer of any fish. There was a report in MD that striper mortality due to catch and release could account for up to 46% of the annual harvest quota for the bay.

Fish24/7 Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 David. 😕 haha don't like him, never have. Didn't he sue BASS a long time ago over a dq for cheating or something and lost? He had my brain swimming in circles with those numbers 😵 I'm willing to bet a hell of a lot more bass are hurt/killed by swallowing gitzits rigged on a tube jig head than with a Ned. Bill has it on his list too. He knows exactly what I mean. Mhyde, MGP, magicwormman and 1 other 4
