Her symptoms from the reaction to the vaccine began to improve after a little over 24 hours and she is much better this morning. Still a little scary to say the least. Not sure if she sought medical attention but I hope she did so that this thing can be documented and considered for the future benefit of others. That being said, yesterday my brother went to get his teeth cleaned and the dental tech (a friend of ours) told him that another staff member at a different office had been vaccinated on Friday and had developed a bright red rash over most of her body similar to a bad sunburn. The rash was quite uncomfortable - extreme itch and blistering also similar to a bad sunburn. Again I don't know if she sought medical treatment but I hope she did. I certainly would have. That was yesterday late morning and I haven't heard any more since. And Champ I'm sorry but I disagree. We hear of a few that have some side effects. Anyone died yet of side effects? what about the hundreds of thousands that have been taken the vaccine with no side effects? Does anyone know what the percentages with none verses some? Any vaccine can have side effects. So another question.. Most of us have had children who were required to get vaccines to attend school. Were these in question at the time or did we refuse on religious principles or homeschool our children? I do realize some here are questioning the fast track of this vaccine being rushed. Do you all think when the polio vaccine was invented and administered to the masses in 1962 there was better things to see if it was safe as there is now even being fast tracked? Hey it comes down to choices I get that but I choose to lookout for future generations, call me a lab rat, without lab rats we would be pretty screwed. Members Brennan Posted January 12, 2021 Members Posted January 12, 2021 I’ve practiced anesthesia in the Kansas City area for 20 years. I teach the KU student nurse anesthetists. The reaction to the vaccine that was described in a previous post is more typical of the second shot, not the first. As expected, the second shot is sometimes causing 24-36 hours of low grade fever and body aches. Everyone is reacting differently, but I’d say about 75% of my colleagues have had short term symptoms like these after the second shot. Your body is primed to mount a more vigorous immune response by the time you receive the second vaccine. These symptoms are, typically, improved with Tylenol and ibuprofen. They were for me. Hospitals here in the Kansas City area are very much feeling the strain of Covid 19. Some hospitals are limiting the number of elective surgical cases, especially those that would require overnight stay in the hospital, because of lack of beds and lack of staff. Covid 19 is highly unpredictable. I see many cases where a person is young and healthy and becomes very ill (prolonged hospitalization, ICU, ventilator, prolonged PT, rehab). The statistic that 99% of those infected survive is, I’m sure, true. But, just not dying, is not the outcome I’m trying to achieve. For me, the choice was easy. I took the vaccine on the first day and completed the second round a week ago. I hope that the vaccine becomes available to all of you soon. I hope you consider taking it. I enjoy all you guys on here. Please be careful. Ham, BilletHead, jfrith and 8 others 9 2
liphunter Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 Brennan, of the handfull of people that I know that have had both shots. You pretty much described how it went for the majority. But they were all ok and don't have to be overly concerned about it now. They have been given the condom of life! lol Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???
DADAKOTA Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 I've read where ibuprofen and acetaminophen decrease the effectiveness of the vaccine and yuo should not take them 2-3 days before getting your shot

It is generally advised to avoid premedication with these drugs in anticipation of having symptoms. If you have symptoms after the vaccination has been given, it is acceptable to use the medications to control symptoms. If someone has concerning symptoms after the shot, I’d advise them to check with their doctor. But know that these expected symptoms are mostly mild and don’t last long.

That same Constitution is in play every day here on the forum ... giving us the right to speak our minds. That nasty golf/fishing combo virus is what we need a vaccine against. It might not kill ya like Covid, but it'll empty your wallet faster than a teenage girl at the mall. Let's go play as soon as it warms up some, buddy. Members slabseeker Posted January 14, 2021 Members Posted January 14, 2021 My experience...just finished the second shot, no reaction at all for me. Just a little injection site soreness like on the first one. Some of my coworkers that I spoke with had the mild fever and body aches like Brennan mentioned. I do take Singulair nightly for my Swampeast MO allergies, not sure if that would help or not. bfishn, Quillback, nomolites and 1 other 2 2
Mitch f Posted January 14, 2021 Posted January 14, 2021 I want to bring up some collateral damage from Covid. I have 3 casualties to mention from my house. Dishwasher, Microwave, and Washing machine are all starting to act funny with error codes and circuit breaks. I’m assuming it’s from overuse. We have 7 people in our house, and with this lockdown stuff, our appliances are getting to Max Q snagged in outlet 3 and Foghorn 2 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Haven't checked myself.
