I bought a quart of real maple syrup at the Springfield farmer's market last month.  A guy from El Dorado Springs makes it.  Unless Vermont Maple Syrup is a LOT better, I'll take Aunt Jemima.

Years ago, when I lived in Mass., I went fishing in Vermont.  There were roadside stands that sold real maple syrup.  I thought it was excellent.  Very light in color and consistency.  Kind of spoiled me and made it tough to go back to the Log Cabin syrup.

I don't eat pancakes anymore, the syrup and butter that I have to slather them with isn't good for me.

We have never looked back to getting caramel colored corn syrup (band name here). We have lately been getting NY maple syrup and not vermont. It's what our Amish market carries. Not quite as good, but decent and not overly priced.

I deleted the video. Language. Had to delete Petes quoted post too.

Wasn't it funny though, and so TRUE ? 😅

There's really no way to get that point across without saying a curse word.

Can there even be an emotional argument where nobody uses colorful language ?   I bet the marital murder-rate would skyrocket if nobody could cuss.  😂

I haven't had Malto Meal in so long I am not sure if I like it or not.  I do like refrigerator oats, use a pint jar fill 3/4 or so with dry oatmeal, add a BIG spoonful of brown sugar and bunch of cinnamon and as many raisins, craisins, or dried blueberries as will fit.  Fill with milk and shake, stick it in refrigerator and in morning eat it with a spoon.  The old fashioned cooked oatmeal that is slimy and gelatinous I don't care what else you add to it I don't want it.  Weird thing I would happily eat pickled pigs feet for breakfast so what do I know.

Malt o meal was a special treat. Like scrambled eggs with left over hot dog slices.  My Dad and Mom worked hard to feed us. My Mom cry's when i ask for eggs and hotdogs, says she did what she could. They live on the beach in Ca now, I still love eggs and dogs..  I don't ask anymore when I visit

What do you know about Old Longview Lake?

My little sister and husband just built a new house on that lake and I talked them into buying my nephew a kayak. They know nothing about fishing but he loves it. Just wondered if there is anything decent in there for him to catch.

That place used to be loaded with big bass. Over the last few years the grass took over and it became basically unfishable. They dredged it out but killed all the fish, from what I'm told, so I have no idea the state it's in anymore.

My buddy used to live right by it and we would fish a lot after work in college. He caught an 8.2 largemouth and I landed a couple 6-lb fish on frogs. This is 2010-2012, though.
