  1. Well I'll be.....😀 I'd love to know what the "penalties" consisted of. I'm now reflecting on the case where a guy was busted with a cooler full of spoonbill eggs.....and they confiscated his boat, his truck, and gave him enough jail time that it caused him to default on his loan & lose his home too.
  2. Think of swinging a soft hackle as if you are fan casting a crankbait/spinnerbait over a flat. Just quickly cover the water. Pay no attention to the location of any current breaks, weedbeds, deeper holes, ect. Just methodically cover the water, all of it, and just see how often you get surprised. 👍
  3. My guess is that they are Asian immigrants..... They'll eat minnows, or make fish head soup. Possibly illegal, that's why I question whether they'll even show up for court.
  4. You ever seen a Redear there? And what are the odds that there were no Spotted Bass in the mix ?
  5. I suspect some significant fish mis-identification there. 🙄 I also predict that those charged will not show up for court......and will never be seen again.
  6. Maybe the ones that smell like Old Spice. But the ones that smell like food....... That's another story 😅
  7. Sadly I'm afraid that you're prediction is likely accurate. My mother ended her medical career at Fulton State Hospital, as a Med. Tech. and one of the things she always used to say was..... "Well, every room has stayed filled since I started there, but we still haven't cured anyone yet." 🤷‍♂️
  8. Fishing a soft hackle on the swing is my favorite way to cover wide, dull, featureless looking stretches. I can't tell ya how many times I've been surprised, and thought... "What the hell was that nice fish doing hanging out THERE?"
  9. A guy that I went to school with.....and partied with during my early 20's is now going through some pretty serious mental issues...... He SWEARS that there are bugs/worms/or something crawling around under the skin on his arms & legs. And although numerous tests and inspections by doctors have shown nothing of the sort, he just ain't buying it......He "knows" they are there....and it's driving him absolutely insane. I hate to see him going through that because he truly is a good dude. Always worked hard and has never been a heavy drug user, big drinker, or anything like that. When you mentioned that dude letting a train run over his arm.....I honestly worry that my old friend is juuuust about to that point. 😔
  10. Usually in tailouts, runs, and in the soft-slick water just above riffles. I fish them on a controlled swing......I don't just let them whip around with the current, instead I kinda let them swing in 4-6' spurts. And often feed a little line to slow the swing even more. I have a little lt.olive & peacock Ice Dub pattern that is the best swinging soft hackle I've ever used. The thing just has mojo! On the Niangua, Current, NFOW, Chattahoochee, and at Taney. Try it, I think you'll agree.... The whole "no tail" thing made no sense to me, but after years of doing this $#!t I just happened to finally notice that it just didn't work for me if there was a tail on my soft hackle. Switch to one with no tail.....and bingo, near instant bite. Finally I just gave into it and stopped tying tails onto any soft hackle style fly.
  11. Suit yourself, but for some odd reason I can't figure out.....a soft hackle fly with a TAIL does not get bit, but the same one without a tail DOES. UNLESS all you are targeting is bluegill in Stillwater. 🤷‍♂️ May just be the way I fish them.
  12. Her little cherry tomatoes did really good. We've actually had several bowls full of those, and they are yummy, but none of the big 'maters ever turned red. 🤷‍♂️
  13. #1. The AGM battery is NOT what caused your electrical fire. If it was a Voltage Regulator meltdown then THAT was more than likely caused by YOU 😅 (trying to get ONE MORE SEASON out of a dying battery.....or failing to maintain a good connection to the battery). If a V6 outboard loses it's connection to the battery....even for 2 seconds.....then you just fried the diodes in the voltage regulator, and probably the tachometer, and unless you constantly are monitoring a voltmeter you'll never know. 900+ cranking amps is what you need, regardless of where it comes from. Keep your battery fresh....and keep those terminals TIGHT & CLEAN. Replace your cranking battery every 3rd year, whether you think it needs it or not. And float-test any WING NUTS before using them for your primary battery connection. Toss them in the lake, and if they float then you can use them. Replace them with 1/2"-9/16" nuts and tighten them with a wrench 👍
  14. Tell me about it !!! 🙄
  15. Here's the kids pick today, from her bucket garden on the porch.
