Ok.  We have ice on the ponds here in Illinois and I don’t ice fish.  I was curious what everyone’s temperature limit is for venturing out on the lake.  I’m around 45 degrees or higher.  What’s yours.

I'm fine at around 20 provided the wind isn't bad. Sometimes my guides ice up so fast I get tired of dealing with it though.

I tend to do the above freezing unless I am on a good pattern.   I went once at -5°.  That was a big mistake.  I nearly caught my Ranger on fire trying to thaw out the steering.

Dutch, I think I remember you telling me that story once, or at least someone told me a very similar one about building a small fire to thaw out their steering.  I have never been, and never will be that tough or dedicated.!!

It was 13 deg one of the mornings down on the White and we were not going to stay in the lodge when there were trout to catch☺.
