tjm Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 So, ~$3000, of which <10% will be profits going into the local? and the rest will go to overhead-whatever banks and China or where ever the supplies came from; Is $300 over a couple days really a major impact? fwiw, Teddy, I think you were agreeing with Quillback. I can't remember the last time I used a lake, just recall being almost run down by a fast boat and having wet waders.

If the amount of weigh-in tournaments doubled, are you still good with it ? Didn't aim to quote you, Ronnie...but I can't get rid of the box.

Don't you think that at some point the level of fish location will influence the desirability of the lake as a tournament destination and the problem, if there is one, will self correct in that the relocation stops? I would have at least typed something crazy in there and accused me of saying it though. fishinwrench, mixermarkb, vernon and 1 other 2 2
MOPanfisher Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Some places are destination lakes(TR and LOZ) and even if fishing drops off it will still get tournament pressure. Others like Truman when the bass fishing fell so did the tournament pressure. I doubt it matters what we think much, tournaments are not going away. Personally I do not enjoy them but then I simply cannot why anybody would consider golf fun either. Daryk Campbell Sr, MoCarp and evilcatfish 3

How would you like it if all the golfers gave up chasing that little white ball and decided to buy big boats and go wake boarding everyday instead? And in YOUR favorite cove! THEN golf wouldn't seem so stupid now would it?!?!?! See? Golf really is useful in its own special way! (provided no restocking) Beaver could serve as an example I suppose, there are a ton of tournaments running out of Prairie Creek and that's the main release point. Beaver has gotten a bad rep as a tournament lake in spite of the fact that the FLW guys did fairly well their last 2 tournaments. As far as I know however, there are no FLW or Elite series events scheduled for Beaver. It's not a facilities issue (PC has a huge parking lot and a recently built weigh in facility for tournaments), and there are tons of restaurants and hotels in the Rogers/Bentonville area. A couple of years ago one of the FLW pros did well fishing in Prairie creek, maybe a mile away from the ramp. But he didn't win. However i don't think the reason they aren't coming back in the forseeable future is because of the fish relocation thing. I don't think that matters at all. AGFC did do a black bass stocking a few years ago where they kept some big fish caught in tourneys to use for brood stock and released the fingerlings produced into the lake. I haven't seen any follow up on that from AGFC to know if it was a success or not. AGFC came out with a new website recently, visually it is impressive, but if you're looking for detailed information like fish stocking info (except for trout stocking in urban lakes) it is not there anymore (used to be available on the old site). Hard to know what the heck they are doing to support fisheries as it to know what the heck the Russian KGB is up to.
MoCarp Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 I think some local lake chambers might be greasing the wheels to get some tourneys at their lakes, with so many waters to hold them on across the US some go to wanting MONKEYS? what monkeys?

They actually do a great job of promoting the area they are in.
