Quillback Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Tom W and his wife were fishing the Kings today and they caught 5 of these dudes. He asked me what I thought it was and I believe it is a yellow bass. Main identifier I see is the two dorsal fins being connected. Seems like we had a discussion on here before about yellers and some folks say that have caught them in TR, but I may be remembering wrong. Anyway, what do you think, yeller or not? cheesemaster, bfishn, Johnsfolly and 3 others 6
Blll Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Yep, yellow bass for sure. Cousin to White bass, much smaller, more prolific. Not a good thing. Quillback, David Goddard and skeeter 3

fishinwrench Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Well, it ain't a White or a Hybrid Striper (no visible lateral line) so I'm guessing Yeah, Yellow Bass. Yuck 😕 Quillback 1
Quillback Posted January 12, 2024 Author Posted January 12, 2024 The state record is 9 ounces. Terrierman and cheesemaster 1 1
Maverickpro201 Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Gut them and throw on the bank. Or take home and eat. Champ188 and skeeter 2
grizwilson Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 We got into this discussion a few years back.....I sent a picture of one caught in the mouth of Roaring River, to the Missouri Conservation biologist that had informed me that we did not have yellow bass in Missouri. He was intrigued and dove into it. Apparently Arkansas had stocked some in Beaver. We all live down stream. bfishn and Quillback 2 “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
Champ188 Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Been fishing Beaver for 24 years and have never caught one, nor has anyone that I know of in NW Arkansas. Don't blame us for what's in Table Rock. lol MarkG52, cheesemaster, Terrierman and 2 others 3 2

I did send off the photos of Les' yellow bass to MDC folks as well to make sure that they had this species documented in MO. Ham, grizwilson, snagged in outlet 3 and 4 others 5 2
