??? for the Old Towne experts
grizwilson replied to Brian Jones's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Actually that is one of the steps I used in applying the gflex and kevlar to my Royalex canoes, it is supposed to open up the plastic for better adhesion mine have stayed put for several years and well over 1,000 miles on each. -

I am down to 3 old town canoes, they have some years on them, all have skid plates front and rear, as they were worn similar to yours, they float fine and I do not worry shooting over thin shoals. I have had the best luck with kevlar cloth and G-flex holding up for years. https://www.westsystem.com/products/g-flex-650-toughened-epoxy/ -

how high the lake is......
-
The current elevation of Pomme de Terre Lake is 847.4 feet and has decreased by 0.29 feet in the last 24 hours. The normal pool level is 839 feet. They are releasing 2950 cfs so falling. With more rain forecast Friday, Saturday and Sunday......I would bring a flipping stick and some spinnerbaits.

I have not @Bill Babler , since we usually take the 5th Wheel, I prefer not to double pull that far. Even though our youngest son lives in Chicago, we route around that circus. So I am limited to my kayak unless I hook up with one of the locals who are mostly interested in deep trolling for salmon. We have approached the Kangaroo from various angles.....simply too many folks, will likely try again this summer. I like the two little city lakes at Alaska, the Kewaunee County Lake and the Forestville Lake. The Ahapee River below Forestville to the mouth in Algoma is a prime spot for 6 inch bull heads....I have spent some time up the Kewaunee River from the mouth to the salmon hatchery .with limited success, but the river is full of crawfish I know I am just not figuring it out. Have to get out of my @BilletHead mindset and take more spinning and casting gear this year. Will share if I figure anything out. Appreciate your reports.

Gentlemen, I certainly am grateful for the @Bill Babler suggestions, hope to give Nightingale Supper Club and pizza a shot, Mr. Glidden is way over this fixed income budget. As for the Prince of Pierogi..... @Terrierman told us about this a few years ago...... I know they may not appreciate the recommendation from a guy with a quadruple bypass and four stents.... but we go every year at least once when up there.... The food is excellent, the Polish Beer is great, I am not really a beer drinker, but much better than that kraft crap. Ladybear and I usually attempt to go at a off time to visit with the Brothers, enjoy the stories Great Folks, good people. Looking forward to the Nightingale Supper Club when it gets hot in the Ozarks. Great area, music in the parks fish the small lakes mostly....... no 4 ft rollers for this old man. g

I never actually got to fish with Richard, but often in the general area. But did have the privilege of being in the same fish camp and sharing meals talking fishing a few days, along with Ham and Cody. Very pleasant and knowledgeable guy.
