So not nearly as traditional as shooting ducks with punt guns or killing passenger pigeons on the roost once were. I would have guessed nearer to 35 years, but as I said it's never been a part of my world. What I recall from the early Beaver days is Smokey Dacus' crappie reports as the lake filled. Terrible loss of river scenery up that valley. By '67 I had moved north and was fishing the bottoms of what became Truman, another lost river system. 1 hour ago, Ketchup said: Do your research on this site alone Comments on any public forum hardly constitute factual research, you are a factual guy, ain't ya? It took me a matter of 30 minutes here in the search area to find multiple comments from guys saying it. look it up chief! Holy hypocrisy, Batman. You denounce EVERYTHING SAID on this site (especially against tournament fishing) as opinion and conjecture, but you want me to take it for fact? Laughable. snagged in outlet 3 Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Yeah but the river is high cold and muddy.
fishinwrench Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 I'll say it one more time, then I'll shut up. A few tournaments a month is cool, I'm all for it. 70-80 per month is overkill/rediculous/too much, and is moving too many fish around. If there just has to be that many, then changes should be made. Exactly. While I obviously don't like tournaments I wouldn't look upon them nearly as unfavorably if the sheer number hadn't become so overwhelming. But I DO play golf tournaments. However, several years ago I dropped my membership at the golf course that I LIVE ON and had been a member of since the day it opened because there were so many outside tournaments and leagues that I couldn't play my own golf course anymore. I was told to stop whining and that the revenue produced by those outside events is what kept the price of my monthly dues down. Well, thanks for nothing. I can NOT play golf on any course in town for free so why would I pay somebody to do the same thing at home? My point is, I'm getting more than a little discouraged about driving fours to get to a lake that (in my opinion) is rapidly becoming overrun by tournaments and even on most weekdays is overcrowded to the point of just not being enjoyable anymore. I fully get the supply and demand concept but I also know that the usual end game is why so many places peak and die - kind of like most of Branson. Like Yogi Berra so eloquently stated, "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded." Consequently, I'm on the verge of merely waving at Table Rock four or five times a year on my way to Bull Shoals. At least I'm pretty sure I'll be long dead before the same thing happens there. I'm not looking for sympathy or understanding here nor am I trying to convince anyone to see things my way. Just trying to put my grumpy old man feelings about one of my favorite places in the world into words. Hunter53, MoCarp, Terrierman and 3 others 6 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent." Me.

Hate your exclusive membership rights being trampled on and club access all of a sudden becoming overrun with riffraff? I have a cove at Table Rock where membership is VERY exclusive and rarely gets fished due to the best security money can buy. PM me for more details about an Stay Out Canyon Cove membership, an Always In My Crosshairs property holding. Quillback, vernon, Champ188 and 1 other 1 3

I've stayed out of this thread, but have been following and this is where I stand as well. Just going to throw this out there, and I only make it to Table Rock about 1-2 times a year at most these days, so maybe my experience is an exception. Anyway, before hitting the water my bud and I usually stop at a gas station for coffee and snacks. 4 out of the last 5 times I've done this the gas station attendant has asked if we were in one of the "tournaments" that day. Is it just a coincidence that we are pleasure fishing on the same day as all these tournaments, or are there perhaps too many of them? (this never used to happen that I can recall) MoCarp 1
