Have you met some of these biologists that MDC employs? Most of the ones I have met don't have a clue about hunting or fishing. The crap we've heard some of them tell us about deer on managed deer hunts is laughable. "The deer rut was in early October". Last year somebody said one was telling them that the crappie were in full spawn on LoZ in FEBRUARY!

Had an agent check us several years ago while my daughter and I were standing streamside during the fallout of a flood.  About 40 buffalo were sloshing around heavily in a riffle and the agent says "what are those? Carp?"  I said, its a bunch of Buffalo they always run up here during a flood.  He looks for a few seconds and says "Buffalo? He kinda laughed and goes... No those are carp".

As soon as he left my daughter says, Well did you learn anything?   I said yeah I learned that the game warden in this county doesn't know what a buffalo is.

Looks like a good place for a derail...

Q. What's the difference between a lawyer and a carp?

A. One is a scum-sucking bottom-feeder, the other is a fish.

I can't dance like I used to.

How many cops ever shoot a gun outside of training and qualification but carry one daily?

It's a job for most, not a passion.

no they go hunting and fishing

I don't see the problem/ argument with the golf tournament fund raiser.   If I'm a boxer,  and I join my church's bake sale it's ok, right?

if your a boxer your not playing golf or at a church, your hanging at the club with your hommies

sad to say the quality of MDC people has wained in the last few years, kinda the point of this whole post, most MDC people I have met in my area have been a tad sharper than most, but I think any Government handling things over the private sector is at a disadvantage

My FIL used to work with charities helping them create fundraisers. Golf is where it's at. A fishing tournament is going to bring in as much as a golf tournament when you are interested in raising money.

When i was in HS I used to hunt some birds with a cop. That doesn't really mean anything here but it sure helped me out a time or two later in life.

Many a deal in DC is done on the golf course, drain the swamp I say

I think someone is miffed that MDC is removing those nasty invasive carp from Creve Couer and is trying to use that to direct anger at MDC.  Nice try.

not really, we don't fish for them, be like waiting for a spoonbill to bite...places where those proliferate common carp fishing suffers

I rode my bike over there when they were unloading them onto the beach.  It stunk for two weeks until it rained and washed the stench away.

The canal south of the lake that leads into the storage basin is chocked with them in the summer.  Rubber lips for as far as the eye can see.  Disgusting things!

wrong kinda carp...here is a refresher     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0hBICq2a20

an agent can get a law enforcement degree in 2 years or less, and I'ding fish and wildlife isn't there strong suit it seems, according to Larry Dablemont the MDC is rife with corruption, with the examples he gives it can be hard to argue...our new gov did order an immediate review on the MDC gotta be a good reason he did...IDK but tossing money at a judges private preserve that you or I will never be able to fish hunt or even bird watch on should chap everyones hide exp considering how SW Missouri gets treated like a red headed step child as far as resources

L.D. is pretty vocal, and it seems to me that if most of what he publishes isn't true to a reasonable degree then the MDC would file suit and shut him up.   It's one thing to talk smack in front of a group of friends, it's another to publish it in a bunch of newspapers.

Instead they just decline to comment and follow up with a report of something heart warming that they are "studying".

I don't care if they have a golf tournament and use the proceeds to support education, training, and various outdoor programs.  L.D. isn't very credible, IMO. His blog provides some value of entertainment occasionally, but I never take him seriously. He's just an unsuccessful outdoor writer that blames the MDC because nobody wants to publish him.

COs are simply cops. Law is their thing, not fishing or hunting; think about this for half a second, if a CO spends his days during hunting season chasing poachers, when could he hunt? No one that wants to hunt is looking for a job that keeps them from hunting. A hunter or an angler looking for a LEO job would be most likely to take up being a podunk county Deputy.

Careful, we have a few Podunk co. Deputy's here.  Let's not piss them off!
