skeeter Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Kinda' funny how this went down....and it tells you something. There's a Facebook page/group that got started devoted to all things Table Rock Lake. Some great shared photography and some good pics of nice fish on there and general information along with answered inquiries about facilities around the Lake area. Anyway, some discussions got started (because someone posted if anyone had signed some petition to ban Wake-boats) about the damaging effects from huge Wakes to Docks, Shoreline and how the incredible wakes from all these plowing "Wake Boats" were making use of the Lake hazardous to other boaters. So many people chimed-in with complaints and bad experiences and were then argued with, insulted and cursed at by apparent owners of these plow-Boats that the owner/administrator of the group put out a notice that posts on the subject of damaging wakes and careless boat operation would no longer be allowed. 🙈🙉🙊 magicwormman 1

It might just tell ya that people are getting sick of Facebook drama. I can't stand the wake boats and I don't even fish Table Rock, but there is no reason for people to continue arguing about ANYTHING on Facebook. It changes nothing. I know some nice people with wake boats. Smart people. Engineers and school teachers and ...... You can't convince them that it's hurting anything. I've heard one say it's the fisherman that are dangerous. Sitting "out in the middle of the lake. Why don't they just go back in the coves and stay close to the bank." So I can understand a admin not wanting it to turn into the same trash as like a political debate. It does nothing to help. bferg 1
fishinwrench Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 You're never gonna ban (or throw extra regulations on) wake boats, so everyone needs to just get over it and learn to cope. Wakeboarding is a cool sport. Way cooler, and healthier, than fishing if you wanna know the truth.....but let's not go THERE. 😄 If wakeboats make it impossible to relocate fish from one end of the lake to the other, then good! Because there's too many people doing that anyway. Flysmallie, WWM and cheesemaster 3

And I know it can be but you will be hard pressed to find much drama on my feed. I can like and unlike all the BS I want, so if you see a bunch on there then it's your own fault. ness Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 One thing nice about Facebook is the ease of blocking someone. A couple clicks and they're gone -- like they never existed. Threads, replies, replies to their replies, everything just disappears. It makes the handful of boring groups I belong to a little nicer when I can easily get rid of the smart a**es. The 'unfollow' is pretty nice too if there's someone showing up on your timeline more than you want. Anybody that's having trouble on Facebook isn't using it right. If we had that functionality here I'd use it. Mitch f 1 John
snagged in outlet 3 Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I don't have a Facebook page. My ex wife and daughter inlaw where on it so I'm not. I think it's kind of a joke actually. Especially when they talk about Russian meddling in the election. If you get your news from Facebook you get what you deserve. Daryk Campbell Sr, LD Fisher and tho1mas 3
Lvn2Fish Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I don’t understand the reason for blocking or even deleting the conversation. Yeah people start arguing, things get heated, someone maybe even crosses the line. In result that needs censorship? It’s really easy to say this whole thread has to go . But in my opinion , in the world of social media this is a slippery slope. Although these people are probably hiding behind a facade of a Facebook profile, and are far more likely to say whatever hateful jargon. At least the two sides would be in some sort of conversation. As Flysmallie said you can choose what you read and react to. Daryk Campbell Sr and tjm 2
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 8, 2019 Root Admin Posted August 8, 2019 I thought we had an option to "ignore" someone. I don't know...
fishinwrench Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 I don't understand anyone getting upset about something someone says. If they actually DO SOMETHING that's one thing, but just saying or posting things is free range, and always has been. Stick and Stones, and all that. I don't wanna be shielded/sheltered by the things that are on other people's minds. The more I know about what you think....the better off I am.
