There's all types on the water.  For example, I was fishing on a rock jetty, when a bass boat comes along working the shoreline, and casts his lure RIGHT AT MY FEET.  Twice.  I was dumbfounded.  I'm not hidden, there's no trees around...also no reason to not skip 40' of shoreline before resuming fishing.  Pretty rude.

I've also been anchored up fishing with a couple other guys in one boat, and 2 guys in an adjacent boat, all casting into a small blowup of white bass between the boats, maybe 20' away from  each boat...and had a troller run right between the two boats and directly over the top of the small area where we were all casting into.  Again...you just shake your head wondering what lack of observation must be occurring to think that this is ok?

I've also seen boaters anchor up 15' in front of guys fishing from shore.

And I was in a boat, fishing with a couple young kids, catching fish so quickly I only had time to take their fish off and rebait their hooks...and a boat that was anchored nearby but not catching anything came over and slowly trolled up about 6' away from my boat, on each side, entering waypoints, before he finally moved a bit further away again.    Maybe it was closer than 6'...on each side, I remember thinking I could easily tap the guy's gunwhale with my rod tip if I'd wanted to.

That's when I think about tying on a 4 oz lead sinker and casting into his boat ;)!

It happens.  I have also on occasion had a guy with a kid ease up to taking distance and ask what we were doing different as he could get bit.  Pull right on up beside me and throw something shiny over there you will have a white bass momentarily.  Usually it is more like what you describe though.  I have been known to start up the big motor and leave as noisily as possible too.

20' is close enough to cast a jig over his bow to snag and drag a bunch of his rods into the water after he un buckles all of them..  All you'd have to say is "Oops, didn't see you there because I was all by myself a little while ago".

You need to just carry on a conversation with whoever your with, that goes like this:

"So, when's your next court date, bro?

The DATE is day after tomorrow, Sentencing.

Sentencing?!  How's that?

I plead out last time so I could get bond.

Why? Did they find the bodies?

Found one of them.

So what kinda time are you looking at?

Who knows, I ain't fixin' to show up to find out either."

They'll go find another place to fish pretty quick.

Crappie fishermen are the worst around here (other than recreational kayakers). If I'm fishing something where they think there's crappie, they have no issues pulling up and stopping on top of where I'm fishing. I think maybe it's because they're more social fishermen than bass guys are. Me, I'm antisocial to the point I'll leave a good spot or bite if someone pulls up close. Good thing about having weekdays off I guess.

I've had too many encounters with folks this year that are just taking up water sports that just don't know better, these kayakers were at a local lake while I was just trying to unwind after work and I about lost it.
