What you said has been studied and proven to be true. Money does buy happiness, to an extent. Just enough to pay your bills, ease worry, and live comfortably. More than that and you're no better off mentally.

The only problem money solves is not having enough money.

If I had unlimited funds, I don't think I would have the latest and greatest.

What I would have is a stable full of turds in various states of polishing. I'd love to have an aluminum cabin cruiser with a Merc tower of power on the back, a smaller runabout with a peppy vintage OMC, and a Deep-V with a big four stroke tiller as a dedicated fishing rig. Playing with boats is a lot of the fun for me, and would be a lot more enjoyable without the worry of finances, a project needing to be "worth it", etc.

I'm sad for your wife's misfortune, but you've gotta tell me how that works.  Regardless of the health of me or my wife, if neither one of us was bringing in money we'd be livin' in a van down by the river.   Probably wouldn't even have a place to raise chickens at.

I don't need excess money to be happy, but I darn sure need it to be a consistent contributor on this here forum.

Gotta eat.

If Georgia beats Bama I may finally have enough money to stay at Becky's lodge and sit in the hot tub. What more do you really need.

Well, that didn't work out.

See, now here's a case for never betting your heart. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you're a big Georgia fan. That's great! Without dedicated fans, our sports world suffers. But this game basically meant "notta" to Georgia. Win or lose, the Dawgs were bound for the playoffs. On the other hand, if Bama had lost, they risked falling out of the playoffs. I try to never bet against motivation. It'll bite you fast and hard.

Deep, deep waters here, Mr. Bill. Reaching the point of having too much money would come pretty quick for me because I would want to help every homeless or struggling armed forces veteran and every needy animal I came across, and so on. Although, if my funds were truly unlimited, I suppose I'd be OK in that respect.

As for spending it on myself and Donna, I'd want a sensible yet roomy home with a boat garage big enough for a couple of rigs. And garage doors on each end so I could just drive straight thru. A Vexus would have to be in the picture. Livescope but only for crappie fishing.

Beyond that, I'm afraid the simple fact that nothing was out of reach might leave me unmotivated to chase my dreams. I've certainly never had everything I've wanted at a particular time in life, but the thought of it is kind of scary to me. Seems like I'm always in pursuit of something and if anything and everything was in easy reach, I'd probably miss the thrill of the chase.

Maybe I'd buy back all of the Ozarks properties and amenities that Johnny Moneybags has grabbed up and restore them to "everyman" status ... no more paying to launch your boat at ramps the taxpayers already paid for ... and affordable golf fees at every golf course in the Ozarks.

Unlimited funds = you own every decent golf course in Missouri (or on the planet if you'd rather), no greens fees anywhere, and golfer's choice of a pro caddy or a customized cart with full wet bar, bull horns on the front and the same horn that Rodney Dangerfield used in Caddy Shack.

I hope she's ok...

Snagged, thanks for this.  After two falls the nerve infrastructure to the legs don't work. My outdoor adventures are limited to anywhere I can  be home in a few hours and has cell access.  Getting old is not for sissies.

Regarding Bill Bablers topic: Social Security kicked in July and I siphon a bit off of the 401K and that is enough to be happy.

I would like a garage for a boat, truck and car, now that I think of it.

Who is losing $17 milly for the vax?

Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn Nets NBA player, chose to sit out instead of vaxing and is giving up $33.33 million.
