I haven't read that thread since the early posts and probably won't. But, if you think it may go south, what about a gentle rule reminder beforehand? That just might turn things the right way before it goes bad. And doing it in the topic instead of behind the scenes would be a reminder to all of us.

This proves my point!  Now where are you gonna be this weekend so you can teach what the heck im doing wrong?  Ill be breaking off jigs and crankbaits probably in the valley park area, down to about george winter.

You misunderstood. I didn’t say I’d delete it. I said it could go in a “the way is society going to the dogs” and everybody has a different opinion, and some could be political and then it gets personal. It’s happened before and it’ll happen again.

This won’t be popular, but in my opinion the moderation here is weak, because it tolerates the junk here. The three things that are stated no-no’s: politics, religion and language come up almost every single day here. Personal attacks are tolerated. Members have called others liars. Moderation isn’t censorship. It’s keeping the peace. 

It’s a shame what this place has become. It used to have real camaraderie, a wide range of interesting topics, and … even more fishing reports. But the BS just drowns out the good things, often creates animosity among us, and drives people away. 

This really could be a better place with some effort. Better that the Facebook crap. Or it can go down the tubes like most forums have.

I feel the opposite. This forum is more on topic and not nearly as toxic as just about any other forum or social media group that I frequent. If you want toxic, go hang out on a deer hunting forum. Bowhunting groups in particular are the worst. They constantly fight over whether deer were old enough to shoot and the choice of weapons used for hunting them.

Case in point would be the Missouri Whitetails forum. I think I've finally had my fill of that place. Most of the posts are just old guys crying about turkey populations and politics. It's a far cry from what it once was.

I tried that forum after the North American Hunting Club Forum shut down. Hated it and just never went back.

Naw, it wouldn't satisfy you.  Phil's version of "going off" on someone is about as harsh as Ms.Bea scolding Opie Taylor.
