Fished for just a couple of hours Sunday and caught six short smallies, four on a Ned and two on a Keitech all in fifteen to twenty foot of water. Swimming the Keitech and the Ned on the bottom. Lost one pretty good fish on the Ned and Kathy had something pretty good size on a Keitech that broke off that was off of a point in thirty to thirty five foot. Was out for awhile this afternoon but didn’t really work at it all that hard. Threw the Ned and Keitech again and had one short smallmouth right up on the bank on the Ned and missed two other light biters all together. Fortunately it was a dang nice day for a boat ride. Lots of shad in the back of the coves and creeks from Indian Point to Schooner but it didn’t much matter for us. I absolutely HATE fishing this lake in September but Kathy loves it so I always just make sure to bring plenty of beer and bourbon! And golf balls.8 points

My wife and I took pickleball lessons last year. We played each other (no score-keeping) for a couple months, then we over-did it and hurt her elbow. We let that rest over the winter, then played a dozen or so times this summer. Our HOA has a tennis court we use. We aren't good or particularly competitive, but it really is fun. @Quillback When my son was in early High School, he was very into Parkour. He was pretty good at it, could do all sorts of flips on the ground and off walls and trees, etc... fun to watch! He got a number of his friends into it as well. Anyway, he wanted a Bosu Ball to practice off of...and one day we had it in the the house. He ran from the kitchen, launched himself off the Bosu Ball into the living room, did a mid-air flip, and accidently kicked the ceiling fan down! 😅4 points -

Susie and I walked 2.5-3 miles everyday weather permitting and will join the Farmington Civic Center this winter to walk again. The oldest grandkids kept me moving coaching their softball games and now the 4 youngest ones are playing sports so I play basketball, etc. with them. They're still in grade school so i hope to stay healthy long enough to help them.3 points -

It’s been very good up until the last few days. Buzz baits and big 11 inch worm around cover. Last couple of days it’s been EXTREMELY HARD. Rig that big worm Texas and bury the hook Point deep. Use a 1/4 oz. weight. Throw it in places you don’t expect to get it back. Fish carefully and be prepared to wench them out. I have just started to see Shad, both gizzards and threadfin moving into the river channels and in the deep bends. Most Shad 30’ and under suspended over depth. Surface temps 77-80 degree depending on time of day. Water with a very nice stain for shallow fishing. Shell Knob to KC area. Good Luck PS we got 2” of rain exactly at SK last night3 points -

We've lost quite a few guys to pickleball from basketball. They keep trying to get me to play... I tell them I will after I retire from BB. I did play a couple of weeks ago for fun. I had trouble getting low enough to hit it. The paddle is too short... I'm used to a tennis racket. I played alot of ping pong and tennis growing up.2 points -

That ain't no lie. I ran a chainsaw for about an hour last week and the tip of my left forefinger has been numb ever since. What the heck is THAT about? 🙄 Going on day 6 of that weirdness. I used to panic....but it's beginning to get easier to ignore the ridiculous crap my body does these days. Weird nerves firing for no reason at all. You ever had the sensation that a mysterious 6th toe had sprouted inside your shoe, and there was no comfortable place for it.....but when you kick your shoe off to count your toes it disappears and you don't feel it anymore? Stupidest thing ever. I complained about it to Sugarbritches and she looked at me like I needed to be put into a straightjacket. 😅 I used to yell at Orion for leaping up out of a dead sleep and immediately chewing his tail feverishly.......but I'm starting to understand.2 points -

I got a bike and ride it nearly everyday. Best thing ever. Enjoyable, cardio and keeps your legs strong. Once your legs go it’s over. I even have one at my condo on tablerock. I also lift 2 days a week plus the bike. Last year I did a squat challenge at work. Got up to 1500 per week. I haven’t decided on this winters challenge yet. An hour a day can change your life. I have fished the James several times - it’s been pretty steady for me. Catching 12 - 20 fish each outing with 3 to 6 keepers each time out. Big was 4.94 on a jerk bait this month. Starting to catch more on a rock crawler as of last Sunday - had a couple that were at the 3lb mark on it. Catching a few on top and a few on bottom and everywhere in between right now.1 point -
Slavery was very common in ancient times. The Romans were notorious for enslaving people, you lost a war with the Romans, there was a good chance your people would end up as Roman slaves. It is estimated that Caesar may have enslaved up to a million people during his conquest of Gaul. The ancient world was a brutal place, Christianity offered hope and a better life in the afterlife for people who, for the most part, led a miserable existence. The life we lead would be paradise to those folks. They spoke of a land of "Milk and Honey", you can take a ride to WalMart and fill your shopping cart with milk and honey. The only time in my life that I have spent in daily contact with people of color was my time in the Army. And there were absolutely differences from a cultural perspective. But when it was work time, we'd say that we're all green and let's get it done. Maybe things have changed, I don't know, all the people I hang out with are white, and it is not because I want it to be that way, there just are very few people of color in my area.1 point

Less than 5% of the population buy hunting permits, so not sure that has any bearing, just not many people hunt. ~16% of the population buy fishing permits , but most are likely fishing near their homes, so in an area devoid of Russians you might not expect to see Russians fishing. And on a large reservoir you might also only see wealthy people fishing because low income folks tend to buy groceries instead of luxury boats. I have fished in places where there were as many black fishermen or more than there were of any other group. But they were local, not tourists. How many of your neighbors are of minorities? Do you see a lot of Hopi hunters and fishermen around there? Tipping should be outlawed anyway, make the employers pay wait staff a living wage or salary commensurate to skill and experience. It takes just as much skill and customer management to serve a $30 plate as it does to serve a $100 plate but you are expected to pay the $30 server $6 and the $100 server $30. And the cost of six servers is already built into the price of the food. It's a barbaric practice left over from medieval times when servants were unpaid serfs/slaves, giving a gratuity indicates superiority and accepting it acknowledges inferiority. But no I've never noticed who tips or how much, did you used to work for tips, or how do you know this? Slavery in Bible times was not the kind of slavery that existed in the 17th-19th centuries, most Biblical slaves were voluntary having sold themselves to pay debts or such, or betrothed as a maid sold by a father, it was a form of employment, and if a slave ran away, it was illegal to return the slave to the master. If memory serves the period of slavery ended at the 7th year. The stealing of a man as was done when Spanish enslaved the natives or Africans were taken from their homes or the Irish were transported by the British to be sold as slaves was punishable by death. The whole chapter must be taken together not just a single line extracted used out of context. The line before your example states that if the servant dies the master must be punished for that, only if the servant lives is the master to escape punishment. The take away is not that it is good to beat the servant, just that it is legal to. When the slave recovers from the beating he is free to leave that master.1 point -

One grandad of mine died at 56. He had contracted Rheumatic Fever as a toddler, at least that is what they thought it was, they were sharecroppers living in the MO Bootheel, no clinics or hospitals around at that time, 1918 or so. They wrapped him in a wet sheet to try and keep him cool and that was about all they could do for him. He died at 56, untreated Rheumatic Fever can lead to heart disease later in life and that is what killed him. Grandad on my dad's side died at 46 of a stroke. leaving my grandma with 7 boys to raise. The women of the family tend to live long lives, so hopefully I have their longevity genes. I should stop by some garage sales, it is funny how many people will buy exercise equipment, but never use it.1 point -

Still missing that part of state. Have been on TN river from Paris to Pickwick. Cumberland Paris up a ways, then Cordell Hull and Center Hill. Tim's Ford, Normandy, and Duck River in several places. Chickamauga and upper Nickajack. We surveyed the Ocoee and Hiawasse 2 weeks back, did not fish it. Trying to hit Dale Hollow, never seem to make it there. I really liked Cordell Hull, cool waters, more river like. Nice laid back area, not full of tourists.1 point -

Squats are good, prevents can't-get-out-of-a-chair syndrome. When I was rehabbing my knee replacement, I started doing Bosu ball squats, the thing about using a Bosu ball is that it also adds balancing to the squats. Bunch of other exercises you can do with a Bosu ball, do a search on Bosu ball exercises if you are interested. Cheap home gym.1 point

As Al pointed out, a large section of the NFOW is too cold for Smallmouth, so the introduction of Trout was a solid decision that most should approve of. Now in all reality there was NO JUSTIFIABLE REASON to stock stripers in Norfork lake.....or any other freshwater fishery for that matter. When they did it here on LO they claimed it was to help control the numbers of large gizzard shad.....which was a crock of BS for a number of reasons. Every new generation of fisheries/wildlife biologists feel that they have to come up with something they can hang their hat on. And most of those hat racks turn out to be bad decisions. This is why I carry such animosity towards "biologists".....and it's not just the ones in the fisheries departments. They ALL do it. Hell, some here won't buy meat or vegetables from a commercial grocery store, and the reason they won't is because biologists jacked things up BADLY. Right? Don't even get me started on the biologists you all are trusting with your "health care".1 point -

I'm afraid to quit playing at this point. I don't do anything else to stay in shape. Really need to build some muscle, not for playing but because I'm going to need it. I started working out with weights in 2007 thru 2011. I still benefit from that strength I believe. I know alot of it is genes for most of us but just being smart with stretching and eating right can do wonders for an aging body. Just got to do it.1 point -
